Message for August 4, 2019 from Pastor Shirley

Your lives are like salt among the people.  But if you, like salt, become bland, how can your ‘saltiness’ be restored?  Flavorless salt is good for nothing and will be thrown out and trampled on by others.

Your lives light up the world.  Let others see your light from a distance, for how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop?  And who would light a lamp and then hide it in an obscure place? Instead, it’s placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light.  So don’t hide your light. Let it shine brightly before others, so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16

Jesus is speaking to a crowd of people and tells them, “You are to be salt seasoning and to be light”.  Salt is a seasoning and light brings sight. The goodness of God is not to be kept a secret. As salt in the earth we are to bring flavor to the world by sharing the “Good News”.  God intends to get his work done on earth today: through you and me. Jesus told His followers to “let your light shine before others,” calling them to live an active faith, not a passive one.  We are not saved to hide the “Good News.”

The world is living in darkness. For their minds have been blinded by the god of this age,[a] leaving them in unbelief.  Their blindness keeps them from seeing the dayspring light of the wonderful news of the glory of Jesus Christ, who is the divine image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4

The circumstances we face in life are just an opportunity to shine brightly for the Lord and to share God’s overcoming truth with those around us.  The people that are around us then will know what we believe by how we live and by the testimony we have

This big light of mine I am gonna let it shine.  Won’t let satan blow it out “no” I am going to let it shine.  Let it shine till Jesus comes.
